Meeting Minutes
July 17, 2018


Present: Leslie O’Connor, Brenda Moriarty and Louis Russo

Call to order at 9:08 AM


Approval of minutes for the June 12, 2018 meeting:
Motion to accept by B, Moriarty, seconded by L. Russo.   Motion was carried by a    unanimous vote.
Community Outreach:
  • B. Moriarty working on a poster (presentation size) and flyer handouts with ‘What’s in What’s out’ themed picture. Flyers to be ready for the Mid-Summer Festival.
  • B. Moriarty to get in touch with Janice Ehlemeyer at Rivercog for free use of recycle bins at the Mid-summer Festival.
  • No booth space is available for the Festival. T. Unger will use the Old Lyme Land Trust booth to hand out the flyers and disseminate the recycle bins, if needed.
New Business:
     1) Sheryl Baldwin’s (State) webinars’ highlight the need for continuous education, local champions and legislative support.
   2) B. Moriarty brought a template for an informational hanging tag for residents recycle bins. Further information concerning the purchase and distribution will be forthcoming.
   3) New London called L. O’Connor for information on the pay as you throw program.
   4) L. Russo to look into straightening out the committee’s part of the Town website.

Old Business:
  • L O’Connor is endeavoring to reach out to New London adult ed. for the possibility of offering a recycling class.
  • B. Reemsnyder said that our ordinance vetting should be complete in a few weeks. We await the finalization to update our committee charge.
  • Violation bin tags have been approved and are ready to be ordered.
  • Discussion of bin stickers for the top and inside on the top. B. Moriarty research costs.

A motion was made at 10:10 PM by to adjourn by L. Russo, seconded by B. Moriarty. Motion was carried by a unanimous vote.
